No two services are the same

So why be rigid about how they are delivered?

We think flexibility is essential so we lead the way in developing and operating new models of service to meet our clients’ individual needs.

We have extensive experience of direct service agreements involving employees transferred or seconded to Capita. We’ve also developed a variety of agreements based on joint ventures. Where ownership is shared, whatever arrangement suits each client best, they all have access to our onshore, near-shore or offshore resources, or any combination.

Service agreements – the traditional model

These direct contracting agreements are relatively quick and simple to set up and allow straightforward access to our wider resources. The employees involved would either TUPE transfer to Capita or be seconded to us for the duration of the contract. Around 70% of Capita employees have transferred into Capita, making us probably the UK’s most experienced organisation in such arrangements. Examples include Cumbria County Council (576 people transferred), Zurich Financial Services (1,040 transferred), BBC TV Licensing (1,500 transferred) Resolution Life (2,000 transferred), Prudential (3,000 transferred) and Marsh (700).

Joint Venture Company – creating a new legal entity

We operate a number of joint venture companies (JVs) with clients. These have a variety of governance arrangements, share structures, objectives, constitutions and memberships. Typically, we set up the JV as part of the Capita Group. We and the client both own shares, with Capita the major shareholder, and the client's employees are generally seconded to it.

As well as serving the client, the JV may also provide similar services to other organisations – benefiting from economies of scale and all parties’ shared expertise. Examples include Service Birmingham with Birmingham City Council (500 council employees seconded), Urban Vision Partnership with Salford City Council (420 council employees seconded) and Capita Gwent Consultancy with four local authorities in South Wales (200 council employees transferred).
